Sugar Sweet Words
Those Words Aren't Mine To Own
I stayed up all night listening to your sugar-sweet words,
The kind you find written on candy,
The kind that makes candy-floss hearts in the sky,
Tell me something;
Were you thinking of the woman you loved
While raining honey on me?
Did you respect my marriage,
When you tried luring me in with your words?
I can't imagine what you are thinking,
And love is a beautiful thing,
But love can be dangerous,
When you rain sugar-sweet words on the wrong woman,
Please remember,
My friend;
I love you too,
But not in the same way;
Love means different things,
And it comes with boundaries,
I can offer you friendship,
But darling,
Please remember,
Sugar-sweet words?
Those words aren't mine to own.

Extremely powerful poem Carol Nicely Done!!!
This piece is stunning in its honesty and restraint. It’s a beautiful reminder that love, in all its forms, thrives most when boundaries are honored.
Fabulous!! I loved it. You told him and well. (p.s. the candy I had forgotten and how we used the exchange valentines in grade school).
