Succumb to the Spirit and Let Go

“Listen to the Silence”

Succumb to your inner spirit - let go -

Intrinsic matters no longer important (maybe they never were)

Lean in longingly to the vast chasm of noiselessness,

Experience solitude, but connection to all,

Nothing frivolous to fret about while stillness exists,

Challenge yourself, each time, to stay here longer & longer,

Exterminate the need to control everyone & everything, just allow your mind to quieten, your head & jaw to soften; can you hear the nothingness?

Quick Note: I’ve recently, again, been inspired by Eckhart Tolle’s teachings. A friend gifted me a copious assortment of his CDs this year, which they no longer required. I have been listening to these in the car. I can’t remember the exact quotation so I am paraphrasing, yet one of the ‘gateways into the now’ is through the intense observation of silence. A technique was to ‘Listen to the silence between the sounds and the silence underneath the sounds’ - in order to achieve this calm state. I only wish I could get to this ‘stillness’ more easily and frequently; it’s a challenge, but I guess practise makes it easier. So that is a little of what I was trying to show within the acrostic.

Just found this short video. He’s much younger here, but the general gist if you might not have listened to him before.

Thanks for reading. If you liked it, please consider hitting the heart, commenting or subscribing for more to encourage my future poems, short stories and reviews. Many thanks.

I like how this feels almost like the narration of a yoga/mindfulness video, with gentle prompts. "Experience solitude, but connection to all"- the contrast feels like it shouldn't work, but so many people seem to find connection even when alone. Maybe we all need a bit more silence in our lives Grz!

Yes I can hear the nothingness, thank you for helping me to reach there. You captured his teachings so very well in this acrostic poem. The instructions in this poem was written in the ink of calmness and it makes it so easy to ‘ Lean in longingly to the vast chasm of noiselessness’. Well done.

This is GORGEOUS, Grz! The word ALLOW hit me really hard. I'm going to sit with that one today. Beautiful work and a stunning piece for the challenge. I have not yet read/heard Eckhart Tolle (as far as I know). Excited to watch the clip you added and dive in a little. Always looking for sources of goodness. Thank you for sharing!!!

I love the last line and that quote ‘Listen to the silence between the sounds and the silence underneath the sounds’. Such a depth there that says it all. Lovely sentiments.

This calming and beautiful. I think true silence is really hard to find. There's always that white noise.

I love noiselessness. What a great word. Also, your second line? Lot of truth there.

The silence will come with patience and the Holy Spirit. Calmness will happen then silence. Good work.
