pick the flecks of my bones from the ashes
that's all that's left of me for you now
you turned green
because I found sunlight
apart from your gray skies
so you magnified
all of your insecurities
and burned me alive
in your mind
and I won't fall for
the trap that you place
in the corn maze
and I just can't buy in
to the shine of the lie
from the glitter and haze
that's meant to placate
or be pulled by your strings
amongst a million other things
that also take
and take
and
take
I poured into you
like so many folks do
but you only gave back
when it pleased you
The jokes on you
I don't need you

A lovely poem that shows no one is defined by another. Love the enlightenment of self strength and confidence discovered herein.
