Stumble

A poem about mistakes

Wouldn't it be nice to stumble

And laugh at how it went

To fill the mind with other things

Than everything you can't

Than everything you never do

Than everything you should

Wouldn't it be nice to trip and fall

And lose the plot for good?

There doesn't need to be a reason

You could finally drop the rhyme

Go living for the sake of living

Just being 'til you die

I do think it'd be nice to stumble

Loose-limbed, safe, and fine

To have my shoulders drop their weight

To uncoil my twisting spine

To be so carefree in my walk

That I don't see the crack

Wouldn't it be nice to stumble

And not have to take it back?
