STRUCK DOWN BY CUPID'S VOLLEYBALL...
GAME SET LOVE...
Feeling bored, I went to visit a friend,
lucky for me she was just leaving.
she asked me to come and watch her play volleyball,
I said I would, unaware of what I was going to be feeling.
I sat on the sidelines , and grinned at their fun,
but there was one person that caught my eye,
he had a great sense of humour, and a cute little bum,
but his smile sent my heartrate up high.
It just so happened that my friend was driving him home
and he made us coffee with grandmarnier and cream,
we talked for ages and he asked me to come to volleyball again,
my friend says he never talks to girls! and let out a scream!
Dinner we had after the next game, and my friend felt like a third wheel,
we stayed up all night talking and drinking,
and after a week or two of dating we finally kissed,
the 10 year age gap was the worry about what people would be thinking.
It turns out that i wasnt only checking him out,
but he had been checking Me out too!
Apparently I have good child rearing hips and beautiful eyes,
and we had so much in common that we both wanted to do.
He was ridicously smart, cultured and worldly,
i was young ,naive ,adventerous , and enthusiastic.
He taught me how to make brewed coffee and soup,
and I taught him how to drive and use the stick.
Playing pinball, and pool , we stayed out all night
was how our date nights always went,
we would catch the train home around 8am,
and sleep all day because we were spent.
I moved with him after a few months,
into a house that was filled with engines and bike stuff.
I cleaned it up while he was away on a trip,
and came home and said it had needed a womans touch.
A night at a hotel was booked in advance
and on the bridge at southgate he proposed,
the next day he asked for my dads permission,
and dads reaction meant he was home and hosed.
We have been married for 23 years, together for 27,
we have made two wonderful children and had 4 different cars
He has seen me through so many health issues,
and still loves me ,even with all of my scars.
We have climbed the eiffel tower, and drank rhiesling on the rhine,
seen buckingham palace, and visited tsumani hit Phi Phi.
We have trekked in the himalayas, and drank beer in germany
and seeing the sunset in greece was a magical sight to see.
My body is no longer able to do what we used to do,
but I still try and make him proud,
This year I will be 50 and he 60,
and the present I am getting him will make him say woo hoo out loud!
Our love story continues and to grow and mature,
but we are always laugh and sarcasam is rife,
we have had ups and downs, like all couples do
but there is nothing better than being his wife.
