Strip away your skin

A Poem

Strip away my skin,

Dare I gaze at what's within,

Colors are my nucleus, my core,

My emotions, my perfections and my flaws

My successes glow brightly, a white all ablaze,

I smile and I nod as I soak up the praise,

But then comes the snub of a solid black.

And I'm cut back down and put back on track.

A rolling grey slides through any cracks,

My tears flow freely, as sadness attacks.

A heartfelt hug, a wide smile and a wink,

The rolling grey morphs into pink.

The moldy, sickly green of rot,

The accolade I should have got,

It poisons me with each color it touches,

Tainting them all within it's clutches.

Fresh limes and yellows, uplifting and true,

Purifying, energizing, come to my rescue,

Leaving in their wake the cyan of peace,

Wrapping me up in a soft, downy fleece.

Red is of love and the ties of blood,

Of danger and anger and a simple rose bud,

It causes me to rage, it makes me fume,

but it also feels loving, a red that blooms.

So strip away our skins and reveal the source,

Each one of us is a unique, hued force,

Of emotions that are as bright as the sun,

Dazzling rainbows of color, each and everyone.
