Strength of a Shell

No wonder the turtle's nature…

Whether shying or shining, it

Knows its own shell

Is simply the superior home.

Gliding through open sands,

I too, need nothing more than

Love and trust, carried with me

Upon my back, wherever I roam.

Seeking the deepest, bluest

Ocean, I chance upon the vast

Water…my, it’s you there,

Quietly nudging further—fulfill

Adventures off the land.

Catching high tides pull,

I’m encompassed within,

Leaving the shore, yet I find

The cracks of your hands,

Holding me above the surface.

-

Free to swim, I take my chance,

Guided through the glimmering sea—

Upon your shell that never shatters…

Your tender heart within,

I hear it’s call, it’s beat,

It plays for me, who sings along

A sweet melody.
