Stray Cat And A Little Girl

A tiny girl with ribbons in her hair, Sat with a gentle hum, a quiet tune,

By Silver Raven Published about a year ago 2 min read

In the garden where the roses bloom,

A tiny girl with ribbons in her hair,

Sat with a gentle hum, a quiet tune,

Watching the world with a tender care.

Among the flowers, beneath the shade,

A shadow stirred, sleek and gray.

A stray cat wandered, calm yet afraid,

Its eyes like amber, lost in the day.

The little girl, with softest voice,

Called to the stray with a hopeful plea,

"Come to me, if you make the choice,

I have a home, just wait and see."

The cat paused, uncertain still,

Its life was one of alleys and streets,

Yet something stirred, a gentle thrill,

In the gaze of this child, so sweet.

She offered her hand, small and kind,

A quiet trust, with no demand,

The stray cat felt its heart unwind,

And slowly walked to where she’d stand.

She knelt down low, with open arms,

The wind whispered through the trees,

She spoke to the cat of little charms,

And promised it love and endless peace.

“I’ll hire you,” she softly said,

“To guard my flowers, to chase the bees,

To curl beside me when the day has fled,

And rest with me under starry seas.”

The cat, once wild, now knew its place,

A contract sealed with naught but care,

For in her touch, in her sweet embrace,

The stray had found a love so rare.

And so the garden became its home,

No longer lost, no longer stray,

With the girl it would endlessly roam,

Chasing the shadows of yesterday.

Together they danced through the morning light,

The flowers swayed in a gentle breeze,

The cat’s amber eyes grew warm and bright,

For it had found a life of ease.

In the soft twilight, side by side,

They watched the sun fade from the skies,

The stray cat, once lost, now filled with pride,

Lived forever in the little girl’s eyes.

And though no papers, no ink were used,

A bond was made, one strong and true,

The stray cat was hired, not by words,

But by the love in a heart so new.
