Stranger in a Strange Land

Haikus About Being a Confused Foreigner

By Hollis WheelerPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

I'm a Green Card Brit

So I can say, loud and proud

NOT MY PRESIDENT!

The Fourth of July

Is the day we celebrate

Easier parking.

Why do I live here?

Coz it's better than dying.

Strange times, stranger place.

Now is not the time

To think it's clever to be

Non-political

It's a lousy guest

Who complains about his host

But Jesus I'm close.

Roseanne got cancelled

So now I can't boycott it

I'm disenfranchised

Don't you like Freedom?

Then you must celebrate it

By not kneeling, Boy.

So we all protest

With our cellphones and keyboards

Pitchforks are better
