He said he wasn't happy
The responsibility of Pappy
Weighted too much to bear
So he packed his case
Smile on his face
About his family, not a care
He left them there
Accounts were bare
and made his way merry
Without a doubt
He took his out
And hopped his Father's ferry
After his convenient save
He arrived at the cave
Of stupidity, greed, and play
His pleasure rose with ease
As his abandoned family's needs
went unfulfilled with every passing day
The walls all crashed
This man made a dash
He escaped with little harm
It had not gone as thought
Lonely and distraught
He became alarmed
But then he remembered
"I left two family members"
Now that he had his fun
He started down the road
Confident and bold
He'd be welcomed by everyone
Now he took the time
To check his family was fine
But they wouldn't let him in
He returned to them now gone
Not dead just moved on
That house no longer home for him
He knew what he had done
Lost love for finite fun
When he should have shown devotion
"What's gone is what would have been"
She said when she looked at him
Closing the door without the slightest emotion.
He walked away and said
"With my heart I should have been lead"
As he looked at his feet
His child watched him leave
This time he got to see
This man who tossed him aside
If they had let him in
Forgive his selfish sin
He certainly would have lied
About his reasons for leaving
Calculated and deceiving
No apology even tried
Instead the door stays closed
He walks the weary road
Alone hoping for a ride
His family laugh and play
as he walks away
Knowing he should have stayed by their side.
