Stranded on an isle

A poem about how I feel in this world.

By EPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

In a world of possibility,

I am stuck with anxiety,

Not knowing where I stand,

Yet no one can comprehend,

Not my friends nor my family.

I've hidden behind my smile,

Feeling stranded on an isle,

Unable to swim to shore,

Fighting against the tidal bore.

Drowning should not be a trial,

Time to let go of my denial.

I have always been insecure,

Constantly wanting to be stronger,

To not be so shy,

Not resorting to telling lies,

Every time there's a little pressure.

I've hidden behind my smile,

Felling stranded on an isle,

Unable to swim to shore,

Fighting against the tidal bore.

Life shouldn't be a constant trial,

It should be more than survival.

I've never known my place,

Wouldn't know what to embrace,

Can no one be understanding?

From what I am explaining.

Tired of feeling like a disgrace,

I need to create a safe space.

I've hidden behind my smile,

Feeling stranded on an isle,

Unable to swim to shore,

Fighting against the tidal bore.

Existing should not be a trial,

I should be allowed to soar and explore.
