Story Of A Poor Child

A poor child from a small village had no expensive clothes, no toys, but he had – a big dream. Running barefoot on the narrow roads of the village, he would always look at the birds flying in the sky and wonder, “Can I fly too?”

His family was very poor. His father was a small farmer, and his mother worked as a domestic help. Going to school to study was not easy, but there was curiosity in his eyes. Whenever he got a book to read, he would turn the pages and get lost in a new world.

But the real challenge came when one day his father fell sick. There was a shortage of food in the house. Now he too had to work, but he never let his dream die.

During the day, he would work in the fields and at night he would read books under the street lights on the roadside. The villagers would make fun of him – “What will you achieve by studying?” But he did not care.

One day, a teacher saw him and was impressed by his dedication. He helped him study and gave him extra time to study. Now his hard work was paying off.

Time passed, and that child left the village and reached a big university in the city. He left no stone unturned in his studies and topped every exam. On the basis of his hard work, he got a prestigious job.

When he returned to his village after years, the same people who once made fun of him were now applauding him. He built a small school in the village, so that no other poor child is deprived of his dreams.

Lesson: Everyone has the right to dream, but very few people have the courage to fulfill them. Poverty is just a situation, but with hard work and dedication anyone can defeat it.
