fresh wounds became scars,

new candles burned down the wick-

self-extinguished flame.

primordial tide,

clung and receded, moon-flung,

ate away the coast.

wind encircled earth,

mimicking celestial

orbit, sun-centered.

time passed; birth, death, life;

my love was earth-steady. but

yours was windswept ash.

heartbreak
