A poem

A poem is not so much a writing as a rewriting:

Each word a stitch

Applying a balm to the wounds of the past

As it sews the skin back together.

Can you make a story out of the senseless?

If you can write it

You can survive it

And maybe one day you will find that the hand-bound journal that kept you alive

Is a story that was destined

To make sense all along
