Still The Tears Fall

On This Night

By Mercedes ChavezPublished about a year ago 1 min read

As I stared down at the blank page

I couldn't think of the words to say

No... I could hear the words perfectly

I just couldn't say them out loud or even write them down

Until one tear fell

Soon the rest of the page was covered in tears

I say nothing

I hope for nothing

I learned this lesson long ago

Don't put your hope in anyone's hands

They will always disappoint you

I am not angry, I am not sad, nor hurt

I am numb

But still the tears fall

They are louder than any words I could ever write

But I would not dare let anyone see them

Night covers us all

And still the tears fall.
