And Other Things
Blindsided, headfirst, in plain sight
A one hit wonder, overnight
Overwhelmed and under paid
Shielding a broken heart from pain
Paying a debt of minimums
Dealing in dirty dividends
I am a pro playing pretend
I stopped one thing to start again
Wearing designer hand me downs
Branded in letting others down
Accepting smiles resembling frowns
That no one wants to be around
Can’t see the forest for the trees
Can’t quiet the noise inside of me
What goes up finds its way back down
Exploding in pieces on the ground
Stuck in that moment
Stuck in the mud
Stuck a half eaten donut
Or whatever it was
Emitting foul gases
While chickens cross paths
Appeasing the masses
While taking a bath
Going all in to prove I can do it
Anything that it takes to make sure I look stupid
