Tonight I went to a writing workgroup that read Rilke and afterwards we got this prompt and 15 minutes to create something: "Write a poem of longing. It may be of spiritual or physical or emotional longing."
+Inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke+
______________
I can create
but my pen
is stalled - not silent
just not active.
-=-
Penning words about
how you are my world
but not being able to
go to you.
-=-
Writing of your
soft lips
but not being able to
kiss you.
-=-
Sculpting words
onto a page about
holding you close to me
but not being able
to reach you.
-=-
There are motives
but no motion in them.
-=-
There are desires
but I am unable to
follow through.
-=-
I can write you 1000
poems but I cannot
move, act, live any
nearer to you.
-=-
Your bright light
illuminates my words
but I sit in the dark
waiting on something
and someone
I'll never have.
