Stained Glass

After one year’s rest
in a solitary chapel
tucked far away in
Bohemian countryside—
I find all light glows
through stained glass windows,
illuminating swelling
behind quieted walls
for what has been
laid to rest, lives on
in a shrine where sun shines
through broken, tinted shards,
a silent chorale resonates
within
•
At what point
does one find strength
in self repentance,
look beyond self-inflicted
chapel walls and their cruel
stained glass memory vaults;
their echoes of long forgotten songs,
•
At what point
does one find faith
in the clear sanctity
of a new daybreak?
and make a covenant
to live the light and noise
outside oneself
