Though I come from many,

I am only me.

I am my own unique entity,

no one else has my identity.

Though sometimes it’s hard for me to speak,

being non-verbal doesn’t make me weak.

Too many assume I am merely meek,

or perhaps some sort of freak.

Your words and intentions are not lost in me,

I observe more than you think I see.

Sometimes I may communicate differently,

but it doesn’t mean we must disagree.

It’s like I am a computer with a different operating system,

Too unique so you’re ready to condemn.

There’s many more like me out there,

and plenty just like them.
