Sovereign of Sunny Space
An Ekphrastic Sonnet

T.S. Harris, "Diving In," 2019.
Time and gravity, her embarrassed foes
Brushed out of being by an outstretched arm
The shocked, arboreal audience knows
That paint can preserve anyone from harm

Red suits the courage to bring terror low
White is the crown of this mad queen of swans
Abandoned, the board a tantrum will throw
Below, imaginary water yawns

How does it feel to be clutched by the sky?
What blue texture suspends animation?
Representation can old laws deny
Art arrests this moment's exaltation

Caught, her chlorinated coronation
Completes sunny space's subjugation

I write because my time is limited and my imagination is not.

I hear echoes of Ode on a Grecian Urn.
Some wonderful word combinations in your excellent sonnet
Oooo, water yawns and chlorinated coronation were so brilliant! Loved your poem!
