Sources of Light

ever present

Daylight savings

a signal of impending doom,

the war of attrition

finally dimming the stubborn sun.

-

It's hard not to feel

soul sapping gloom,

when the darkness smothers

suffocating the senses.

-

Bleary eyed bread winners

seizing the day,

do so in dauntless dusk

fleeting glimpses of the sun.

-

O what to do

in a situation so hopeless,

nothing for it

but to succumb to the glum.

-

Nay say I

so the sun has gone,

and we mourn it so

but soldier on we must.

-

For are you not warmed

by the roaring fire,

or the bountiful mugs

of steaming hot cocoa.

-

Yes the days are shorter

but that also means,

the stars shine brighter

and the moonbeams glimmer.

-

The misty nights

create the perfect canvas,

for the solitary streetlamps

to shine their spotlights.

-

So yes the days are short

night ever present,

but that just means

we have to discover.

-

New sources of light.
