Sophia

As you lie softly sleeping......

By Rachel KirkPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Sophia

As you lie softly sleeping,

from dark corners we are creeping!

Crawling from our cragged crack,

creeps I Sophia and my husband,

the cruel creature Jack

Bulbous bodies black and hairy

protruding eyes and fangs, we are quite scary!

Four spindly legs, four spindly arms,

perfect for spinning webs and wicked charms…

We spin our webs to catch the flies,

nice and juicy for our pies

Once captured in our velvet lair,

there’s no escape, they go nowhere!

With two long fangs I place my sweet kiss

then watch and wait as they slip into the abyss.

I knit them a blanket, wrap it around tight,

must make sure they're kept warm, (for my supper that night!)

My favourite part has to be their eyes;

you know there really is nothing quite like fly-eye pies!

My husband ensures my appetite is replete,

the others who failed are all sadly deceased

He has no need to worry though as long as my belly is full

and each and every morning, he reminds me I am beautiful!

As for you I urge you all to stay away,

for which of us is poisonous who can say?

I urge you all; retain your fright,

for as you know all spiders bite

(If not by day then in the dead of night)
