Dusk, draw your velvet curtain

‘round my cottage home.

I am peaceful here,

in life, in time.

Aromatic coffee steams.

Clock clicks out quietly its gentle rhythm

as my cat, Tom,

a sculpture now encircled by a tail,

rests exquisite and unblinking.

Luxuriate here,

in life, in love--

in the silence of an elegant free hour:

Lights are coming on all over town!

Night, draw your inky drape

around my cottage home.

Stars, I hear you speak to me-- of love.
