Sonnet #12

Despair

By ChampionElCidPublished about a year ago 1 min read

The rage I feel at this society

Consumes me like a fire does a meadow

It seems as though these fools who cannot see

Make laws that they enforce on us below

Laws designed to keep us locked in squalor

So that we cannot rise above our place

Laws so that we barely earn a dollar

So living life is like an endless race

We feel the rage these laws awake in us

And yet it seems there's little we can do

For they can punish when we make a fuss

And send their goons to beat us black and blue

This hopeless feeling weighs upon my soul

I see our future vanish down a hole
