Song for Myself

Embracing my true self

By JaQuan Billingsley Published 6 years ago 1 min read
The revelation of me

I celebrate myself, by writing about myself

When I walk to the lakefront

Feeling blue and all alone

I look to the water and ask myself

What am I doing?

Then I get the answers

When I lay in the pool

Floating like it’s no gravity

I feel at home, like I can stay in for hours

I can forget, all the stress

I feel it next to me

I realize I connect with water

The way the waves move is as soothing as seeing raindrops fall from the sky

I’m talking to myself in my mind

Is it my conscious speaking?

Who answers my deepest inner questions?

Is it God?

I sit and stare at the water and I finally see

The person who answers me is finally revealed

Now I see

The voice that I’m hearing is me?

Let me go above all the hatred and discrimination in this world and focus on me

I am light

Bright as the sun

I control my destiny and what comes in it

Sometimes there’s doubt about me but I’ll always prove it wrong.

Doubt that I’ll succeed and be a productive man in this society we live in

I don’t let those things phase my dream or what I stand for

When it comes to me I am Who I am

I look back on life like I’m respawning on Black Ops

You live and learn from your mistakes

Never make those again

Society is sublime because they act like they’re God when they’re not

Life is a blessing though

It has given me another day to make something of myself

Life makes me learn about me

And me is all I ever wanna be

I can’t imitate that’s suicide

Why would I try to live someone else’s life?

That’s not what I was made for

I’m made for the inevitable

Made from the ancestors who walked through the sands of Africa

I’m Divine

I’m Myself

That’s seeing my soul

inspirational
