Somewhere in Texas

Chez Cecilia

By Conrad IlesiaPublished about a year ago 1 min read

When we heard the news, we hit the floor

But for them I put on a brave face, mister.

Now you keep your memory of him, sister,

Darling, he is keeping one or two of yours.

All I ever wanted was the nearness of you,

Your liberation, from chains to be free.

You kept telling me, you kept on telling me:

It can't be true. Not him. It can't be true.

We ask why our bonds had to sever

(The prayers of a righteous man say so much).

We lived in light, we lived in truth,

We thought we were destined to live forever.

She always lets me be one of her crew,

Which--God bless her--isn't always wise

But when we got the news,

A little bit of light left her eyes.

Friendship
