somewhere

lingering laments

Maybe in another place

The stars aligned differently

Maybe there I was allowed

To open up my ribcage

And invite you inside

Maybe there the walls

Were around us

Not between us

Maybe in some other universe

Fate favoured us instead

Of condemning us

Maybe there

You were able

To be soft with me

Not in rare moments

But in all the moments

Maybe in another galaxy

I am not silently mourning you

Writing eulogies and swallowing them

Watching them get stuck in my throat

Maybe there my love is loud

Not something to be swept

Under a rug

Maybe somewhere

I am not only

Allowed to be happy

But permitted happiness

With you, my love

Oh this resonated with me! This felt like secret love which is all too common when growing up LGBT! Brilliantly written - I feel the longing in my chest!
