Sometimes Friendships don’t last Forever

A sonnet

We once were close, like shadows side by side,

In every laugh and tear, we shared our days,

But time, it seems, has taken us for a ride,

Now silence fills the space where voices raised.

No anger burns, no bitter words were thrown,

Just quiet drift, a distance hard to name,

We watch each other's lives, but we're alone,

Just memories and pictures in a frame.

I miss the talks, the secrets that we shared,

The way we knew each thought before it spoke,

But now we're strangers, though we still have cared,

Our bond, it seems, is just a fleeting smoke.

Though we may never find what we have lost,

I'll cherish what we had, no matter the cost.

THIS IS A VERY WARM, SAD POEM. It is true from the heart.
