SOMEONE I LIKE
I like him,
Not loudly,
Just in the way a song hums beneath the noise of the day,
Soft and steady, never sung aloud,
He laughs like the sunlight,
And I keep my shadow proud.
But you,
My bestfriend,
You speak his name like it's stitched in your heart beat.
You don’t know mine skips too.
You don’t see the way I fold my feelings into silence just to make space for you.
I could tell you,
I could tell him,
But I like you more than I like the dream of being liked back.
So I stay quiet,
Wearing my secret like a locket,
Because love
Sometimes,
Is choosing not to unlock.
