I saw a couch on
the side of the road
Abandoned
left for someone else
to throw away
I thought, isn't that
Typical
of people today?
Use it and toss it
seems to have become
our way. Where did
Accountability
go or did it get
Ditched
on the side of the road
too, I can see what
a bad precedent this sets,
can you?
Like that couch,
she tossed my heart away,
used, broken
without two words of
Explanation.
Use it, lose it, on to the
next new sensation like
our love was just an
Apparition.

Captured our throw-away society very well. Great poem.
Gosh this was so heartbreaking as it had so much truth to it! Loved your poem!
There is something comforting about an old couch that has been broken in and survived those years of service. That history is what makes it unique and beautiful. With a bit of love and care, that couch still has its best days ahead!
So melancholy but relatable. Nice poem Sam: Keep your head up, eyes on the prize Until.the next lovely set of thighs 😉
Wow, another poignant, powerful poem.
Wow love how you compared the couch to heartbreak. Outstanding writing.
