Some Poems
Not feeling a subtitle for this one

Some poems dance off the page with vivid language, winking imagery, and clever turns of phrase.
Some dig their nouns and verbs into the skin of the page, drag their talons across it in the beautiful agony of horror beautifully articulated.
Still others walk solemnly through their words like tour guides,
gesturing toward the great works,
whispering “canon.”
And then there are the ones that turn you inside out and upside down,
yank the earth out from beneath your feet, send you hurtling through a life you never knew you had in you.
I worship these alchemists spinning words into worlds.

We're the same minus the breasts and bits and formal literary education. Lol. But aside from that we're the same. Well wrought lass
I love this phrase: "alchemists spinning words into worlds" From now on, I shall refer to myself as an alchemist of words. It kind of provides a meaningful task, too one has to live up to. Beautiful poem, Harper (as always) ❤️
Beautifully put. That last image captures exactly why certain poems stay with us long after the page is closed.
This is so relatable! I especially loved the part about being turned inside out and upside down. I know that feeling lol!
The shift from observation to reverence in the final line feels earned. It transforms critique into gratitude, which gives the piece its emotional center.
Exactly how I feel about poems, too. Loved your honesty in the subtitle!
