You Know What I Mean

His eyes know

More than words can say

He sees body language.

Actions, ideas

Words cannot convey.

A subtle glint

In his eye

Beckons and begs

“please ,

come closer.”

You see the cry

Before the sound.

Brown eyes

Melting your heart

Sobs of a hound.

Thanks for reading :) Inspired by all the dogs I have been seeing lately. Specifically the ones that want the food I am eating!

This was a great read. Reminds me of my labrador! Always such a sad face ready to guilt me into giving up my dinner!!

Great job on your poem, Meg! Your use of imagery is quite impressive. The way you have described the hound's eyes and its emotions through them is very moving. You have also managed to capture the reader's attention and evoke empathy towards the hound's plight. Keep up the fantastic work!
