Pretending to laugh,
to hide the tears in your eyes,
Donning that smile, knowing all the while
it's just a glorious disguise.
You wink your eye, nod your head,
so no one notices the monsters.
Shoving them farther, beneath your bed,
it's normalcy that you must conjure.
You play the game skillfully,
wear all the right clothes.
Just transparent enough,
so that it doesn't show.
That you are the phi-sod,
there is nothing real about you.
No one finds it odd,
they don't have a clue.
That life is the game,
you're just hanging on.
You were hoping for change,
but it's gone on for too long.
It's become what it is,
surviving the day.
Hold in all your feelings,
no one cares anyway.
So, let your monsters run free,
no need to hide anymore.
People will see what they see,
stop fighting that war.
They've already chosen their sides,
they just didn't choose you.
You were left behind….
