Still frames of an entrepreneur.

i keep mental souvenirs in mental

scrapbooks i loathe to cherish. each

page, another attempt at closing the

deal; yet being the ‘victor’ is a title

reserved for winners...

as a consultation, i'll claim that last

place trophy and store in a crowded

museum of blunders...

but my chin never waivers...

the horse remains saddled...

the climb, ever so steep, requires

stable hands. i reach for the sun, but

only make it as far as the clouds...

today, i'll add more photos framing

past attempts i set free but have

promptly found their way home—

unfulfilled. unpromised. left in stasis with

others while trying eyes try again...

there's a thrill in every pursuit, riddled

with unthought of roadblocks at every

other turn. but there's also a finish line.

i know it's there...

i'll focus my lens and maintain a semblance

of faith before the very windows i seek

fade into oblivion. dreams cost ample time

and effort. not a surprise at all... but

lingering in a state of wistfulness only

thwarts the act of doing...

today feels different...

today feels like the day...

today, I don’t forage alone.

the joy of pursuit is with me every step.

which leaves these objectives... they're

coming along for this bumpy ride...

This felt so very personal, like it could be written for only you, yet it also felt like you were speaking for me and everyone else at the same time. That line, 'i reach for the sun, but/only make it as far as the clouds...' was really powerful. What a fantastic piece, my friend :)

I love this idea of the objectives coming along for the ride. Like how they are ours to carry, not some absolute to aim for.

This was both remarkably heavy but incredibly uplifting. I loved the image of the horse remaining saddled. Great poem!

Lamar, in retrospect, the bumpy ride holds much inspiration, and your poem surely uplifts the reader. I love this part: "the climb, ever so steep, requires stable hands. i reach for the sun, but only make it as far as the clouds..." ❤
