Snakes and Ladders
Snakes and ladders on the board
rolling dice, chasing moves
some climb up fast,
others slip down slow
the game is not fair, never was
ladders stretch like promises
but snakes snap like doubts
you reach for the top,
thinking you’ve won
then the fall pulls you back again
no luck, no magic
just the grind of chance
every throw a gamble
every square a lesson
who knows where the next step leads
the game goes on
some win, some lose
but the dice keep rolling
and the snakes wait patient
ready to drag you down again
Try as you may snakes always sin
the cunning and the poison will always win.
