like a snake

you creep back in

you slither into my thoughts

can’t shake you

can’t get rid of you

of how you plague

of the me you’ve made

separate from everything

distant from my soul

can’t sit still

unable to find

myself

my center

my being

dizzy…

losing the fight

and the purpose of this life.

fading away

wearing a suit of no armor

that cannot protect

won’t forget

falling apart

breaking this heart

the mirror looks but cannot find

i’m nowhere

the reflection is gone

the broken pieces lie about

scattered and lost

like my mind

like my time

sad poetry
