Smooth Like You

A Memory Slipping Away

Smooth Like You

As I sit and stare

into the rushing waters

at my favorite fishing hole

I can't help but reflect

like the sunshine off the water

I remember just how smooth

you played things off

like the water

rushing over the jagged surface

of a rough rock

You soothe my soul

God, how I wish

I could have it all back!

The cards just weren't in place

If I could,

I would take it all back!

I would be the one,

NOT you!

But alas, this was not meant to be.

As I sit and slip away,

I can't help but think.

Why can't I be

smooth like you?
