Smiling Small Things

By Julia Damore-RomePublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Smiling Small Things are

so big

we mistakenly misplace the memory of them

in between pages of the books loved as children

whose illustrations alone understood

or later reading younger year ruminations

that click just right

maybe even closer

larger than nonsensical laughter

that starts in the stomach

and ends up among the stars

punch drunk off daylight divinity

remembered by moments

kept with the heart not wrist

the small dress tall

sees you sidewalk sauntering

sentient with yellow sunflower swell

stylin sturdy soles to strut around the world in

walking wears so bodily buoyance blooms

legs leap and atoms in equilibrium prepare air arrival

for a magic moment earth energies elevate you

spinning through spirals of ungravitated bliss

but just as swiftly gently give return

a shimmer in the sky and life carries on

at night rising with the moon

she is grinning with glee

her ambient glow girlhood grows

sistership with saturn sun and celestial seas

mermaid murmurs of mystic mountains where

friendships old and new meet

pens paint and the patience of a portrait

as the intimacy of expression illuminates each

individual enhancing their understanding

of themselves and our enchanting earth

these tiny things even become routine

kiss of caffeinated cup

a catch in the clouds

as their shadows trail landwise shading

spring ready and summer ripening

helping others and anyone acting mother

reciprocal releases

lending hand head and heart

with belief in the universe from the start

thereby

finding another spiderian spoke in the web

grandly gargantuan is the giant it

grapples with the window when the door is closed and

collapses ceiling into song so as to expand with the sun

golden medallion crunch

x marks the spot

the treasure has been traced

found fictitious fantasy ?

a swish in the sails as the craft carries on

the small stacks up slowly

but then all of a studdin

happiness wraps around

huggin

and just there

wherever you are

is home

surreal poetry
