Slipping in the Current

6.19.23

By Katrina ThornleyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Time became fluid,

Poured un-ending

As we tried to swim

Against a current,

Propelling us onward

Caught in the ladder,

But catching snippets

Of a time before,

A day long ago

When eyes first met

And recognition dawned,

Releasing for another

A moment in the dark

With brilliant stars-

A night tossed back

To be carried away by

The ever flowing stream,

And we halted our swimming

Allowing the natural flow

To put a distance between

The then and now,

The who we are

And the who we were,

Realizing the current was meant

To bring us to the destination

We were destined for

From the first moment

We try to reclaim

In our weakest points

Before the we was born.

Ah, the yearning to return to a time we would never want to live through again, while what is longs for our attention & what will be cries out for our aspiration.
