Slipping Away

A love poem for what was

Above us, the stars

bore witness to our love,

catching the smiles between each other

during the night we met and

every night after,

following the love that

grew between us.

How they watched us

invent a path for what we thought would be our future;

Jumping on you every time you'd come home from work,

kissing under the rain,

late night eating while watching

movie after movie,

notes hidden for each other in absurd places.

Only more days like these I thought we had.

Pondering past moments of us

quickens my heart.

Remember still? Those moments?

Sealed in our own minds and hearts

that will fade away with time and get stuck

under new memories we will create with new love until

very soon

we won't really know

x from y moments together,

years will go by and our love will only be remembered

zillions miles away, by the stars.
