Slightly Comforted

There Is Peace in Loss

Slightly Comforted

The sky let forth its own tears

just shortly after mine,

I’m supposed to be the strongest man

but they just watch me cry.

The raindrops sound like fireworks

such a resonating sound,

all of time stood still for me

as they laid her in the ground.

The petals fall so quietly

yet the rose still looks the same,

I’ve swallowed all the pride I had

but can’t stomach all the pain.

I am surrounded and yet I am so alone

in a cold and desolate place

but slightly comforted by the peace,

etched eternally on her face.
