Sleepless Nights

A Poem

By Carli ChisenallPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

Tired. This stress brings out the demon in me.

One that weighs heavy on the eyes and inside.

With only one thought to get through the day.

A few short blinks to stimulate the senses,

A struggle not to collapse over a day's hard work.

Blank stares back and forth showing no interest,

Walking the earth as a silent drone to society.

A quick smile to feed their curiosity, Insanity.

The bags lay dark and heavy now.

Its as if i almost don't exist today,

They seem to pass right through me.

Leaving the painful comments behind.

The days end brings a new beginning,

"Lay awake now, dont sleep yet.

Our nights together needn't be lost."

The insomnia of my emotions call to me.

One more sleepless night. Reality.
