Instructions for Disappearing Entry

You need to rest, dove.

~

Come.

Come now, close those tired eyes.

Let those lingering tears fall into the silk.

~

I will brush the tear stains off your cheeks.

~

Don't hide.

Not from the desire to slip into myth,

To turn into something beautiful far from here.

~

Let the pain float out of you on a sigh.

~

There it is,

Lean into the void stretching its arms

Around you, your thoughts, your dreams, your sleep.

~

I will capture that essence, smoke it myself.

~

Breathe out

And don't think about the next hungry suck of air.

The heaviness in your lungs, it's intoxicating, isn't it?

~

Watching you disappear is a maddening prospect.

~

Easy, dove.

Tuck your wings away and let the world pass.

Keep your eyes on the moon and let it fill them forever.

~

They are for the mourners.

~

Let go

Of your hold on the clouds blowing wind in your veins

And let the heaviness of this bed slide weights into your bones.

~

Let it crush you the way it'll crush me.

~

Sink into the sheets,

Or if you're willing, into the space between my arms

Where I have only dared to dream of holding you once before...

~

You float away on the current of sleep.

~

Goodnight, darling.

Sleep well under the stars and storms and snow.

Fade now, darling, into the warm arms wrapped around you.

~

And take me with you when you leave.

These lines in themselves are power: 'Sleep well under the stars and storms and snow. Fade now, darling, into the warm arms wrapped around you.' Such a beuatiful well constructed poem that emits emotions with every word

This poem is ever so haunting and quite lyrical in its sublime beauty. The picture you've chosen highlights the nature of the poem so well, too. Lovely.
