Skin Crime

Hated For My Colour

Why all this prejudice and animosity

Fear and unbridled anxiety

Just because I look different

I've become the target of hatred

But I can't be blamed for nature's design

For I am an expression of the Creator's desire

My earthsuit was nothing but the Creator's pick

Disheartening, that your lens cannot stand my pic

We seem different

But not entirely

You hate my presence

But I wish you beside me

When we are both cut open

We both see red

For we are both woven

From the same thread

Mankind is our kind

So why can't you be kind

When I see you

I see me

For we are both branches

Of the same tree

Love me or hate me

It's your own choice to make

But how you treat me

Reflects what you are made

I'm unique and special

And so are you

There's nothing wrong with me

And there's nothing wrong with you

You are amazing

Just as you are

So love me too

Just as I am
