I Am Not Your Enemy

By Amanda Moore-KarimPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

Sister,

I wish you knew how much I love you

and how I see myself in you

through your eyes, I find connection

through your expression, I find community

through the assertiveness, the sass, I find confidence

I love you! I want to be you!

A woman birthed into a nation unwilling to protect her

yet still you twirl as if you were dancing to a fine tune

while keeping your feet firmly on the ground

Sister, I love you!

And I’m not sure that will ever change

No matter how infuriating it feels for you to not see

I Am Not Your Enemy.
