Sirius, the Star Who Sat in My Lap

I have to retract my previous statement about only kissing people I don’t know when paid. 😅 At Sunday service, a sweet little chocolate boy, about one-year old, climbed over his mom and my sister to visit me on the pew—several times! His mom leaned over as I held him and said, "His name is Sirius." She explained that Sirius doesn’t usually go to other people, so I guess she figured I should know his name since we had already bonded.

Sirius loves teddy bears, squishy toys, and kisses. I even ended up taking off my socks and shoes in church (smiling), and he followed suit. We shared some playful moments, and I gave him a little foot massage, which he seemed to enjoy. Before he left, we gave him a chocolate teddy bear, and I thanked him for spending time with me.

It turns out, I didn’t realize how much I needed a bit of that pure child energy. It was refreshing. 🧸✨ Since, It has been a moment since studied the stars I thought it was a great time to update.

The name Sirius has celestial origins, as it is the brightest star in the night sky, located in the constellation Canis Major (Latin for "Greater Dog"). Often called the "Dog Star," Sirius has been significant in various cultures for thousands of years. In Greek mythology, it was associated with Orion’s hunting dog.

The name Sirius comes from the Greek word Seirios, meaning "glowing" or "scorching," due to its brightness and appearance during the hottest part of the year, often linked to the "dog days" of summer.

Given its astronomical significance, Sirius is often associated with light, brightness, and guidance. It felt like a beautiful and cosmic coincidence—the brightest star, symbolically sitting in my lap. In astrology, stars symbolize guiding lights, destiny, and spiritual energy. Having a "Sirius" in my lap felt like the universe sending me a powerful reminder of connection, warmth, and light.

The universe has its way of nudging us with a little celestial energy—aligning childlike innocence and cosmic significance right in our arms! Whether intentional or just a sweet coincidence, it was a lovely moment where the stars (and Sirius) aligned perfectly for me. ✨

I normally greet children with "Hello, Star!" if I don’t know their names. It feels sweet and intuitive as if I’m calling them exactly what they are—stars. So when Sirius, literally named after the brightest star, came to visit me, it felt like a beautiful synchronicity. I’ve always aimed to connect with the light inside every child. The universe has quite a sense of humor and timing. 🌟

Sirius, the Star Who Sat in My Lap

A quiet Sunday, sunlit pews,

He climbed across, a journey to.

A little chocolate boy, so sweet,

Found his way to my waiting seat.

His mother leaned, soft words she spoke,

"This is Sirius," and my heart woke.

A star, they say, who never strays,

Yet here he was, in my embrace.

He likes teddy bears, and squishy toys,

And gentle kisses, shared with joy.

We played with toes, no shoes in sight,

A tender bond, pure and light.

The meaning of his name so bright,

A glowing guide in darkest night.

The Dog Star, shining, here with me,

A cosmic touch, divine decree.

Was it fate or some design,

That led this little star to mine?

A nudge from heaven, soft and true,

To share his light, refresh and renew.

In that moment, pure as air,

I held a star, unaware.

The universe had gently planned,

A child’s heart to hold my hand.

Sirius came, a gift so clear,

A reminder: stars are always near.
