sinking ship

in shallow water

sinking ship

today could be the day that hard times come in softer packaging

the harsh lines dividing lovers and brothers and friends fall to the side

we see each other as perfectly as we see our own hopes and dreams until

they don't mean the same things to us and that makes no difference

when a prodigal return navigates the long way for the long time coming

guest star in his own life but not in control and having no plans meaningful

the course is set and the sails are in ashes just fiery snow on the water

the waves extinguishing flames undulating over the last bits of ship sinking

water too shallow to drown in if you just stand up just stand up just stand

just stand up for yourself and for don't compromise for anything less

the unsolicited promises and commitments that don't match the intent

fuel and fodder and lawlessly broken and twisted until unrecognizeable.
