The world is on fire

It burns while we fiddle

We fiddle and we dream

Of a world on fire with love

The world burns

Burns away, bit by bit by bit

Ashes fall, black snowflakes

Swirl in the muck

We forget to weep

On the outside always looking in

Alone in dark woods illuminated in red

Red on the horizon

The heat growing

Safe, alone in the dark

An illusion

Illusions are safe

The world won’t take me

The fire won’t burn here

No one sees me

Even now, even while I scream

The world is on fire

Blind eyes turn to the sky

Iced coffees exchange hands

Stave off the heat

For how long?

Loneliness is like ice

Ice that burns like fire

How many people burn?

Am I burning?

Am I part of the world?

Or a part from it…

The world is on fire

It burns while we fiddle

I hope the song is good

Sing me to sleep

Sing me to sleep

Play me a song

Play me a song…

For the end of the world

The world is on fire

Watch as the flames dance

Twist and flicker, flicker and burn

Entranced

Entranced

All is well

All is well

Alone in the woods

I weep

Alone in the woods, I watch the world burn

And wonder

What could have been?
