Simply

things just get busy

i spent so long trying to die

i’d forgotten how to live

and all the time the take take take

i simply neglected to give

i never wanted to look too far inside

those bad places are still all there

a part of the how that made this now

i simply never wanted to dare

i tried to not let myself be swayed

i hovered between darkness and light

i was on my own side this time round

it simply wasn’t my fight

i become unemotionally invested

a lack of dare, bare, care and share

but then it all got to be way too much

i simply wasn’t there

i am the sum of decisions and choices

made recently and over time

some of the dreams, nocturnal schemes

will simply never be mine

The last four lines of this poem really knock it out of the park. Beautiful writing!

"i spent so long trying to die i’d forgotten how to live" Really hit me. That line is so raw and powerful. Hope you're doing well. Loved the poem.
