Simply Divine

Little Emmeline

Was simply divine

As pretty as pretty could be

And at school

She was little Miss Cool

As bright as a button, you see

Friends with everyone

A smile like the sun

Everyone basked in her glow

Little Emmeline

Was simply divine

But there are things you should know

She never invited friends to her home

Preferring the park to play and roam

No one had ever seen her house

And when people would say

‘How’s your family today?’

She would stay quiet as a mouse

And there was always a day

When Emmeline was away

And no one knew where she went

But Emmeline would say

In a breezy sort of way

‘I was visiting family in Kent’

Emmeline was mysterious

And sometimes quite serious

And the children all wanted to know

Why every few weeks

Away, Emmeline sneaks

Where oh where did she go?

What people didn’t see

Was that this beauty

Had a deep, dark secret

Hidden so deep

Emmeline made no peep

For she was determined to keep it

Emmeline was not a normal child

She was truly quite wild

In her heart lay a hidden beast

When the moon sat round

Emmeline let out a sound

Then she would start to feast

Emmeline would change

She looked so strange

Her hands would grow into paws

She would grunt and growl

A sound so foul

Her nails turning into claws

She would sprout fur

Absolutely everywhere

Her hunger would begin to rise

Her teeth would grow

Painful and slow

This is why she told her lies

When the change was complete

Emmeline rose to her feet

And began her hunt for prey

Through town she would creep

While everyone was asleep

Hunting anything that got in her way

Person or creature

On her menu they’d feature

Emmeline just wanted blood

Tear, rip, slash, chew

What would her victims do?

They’d run if only they could

All through the night she’d stalk

Eating anyone out for a walk

And burying their bones in a gulf

If you haven’t guessed by now

(If not, I don’t know how!)

Little Emmeline is a Werewolf

And nobody knew

What she would do

When the moon sat full

Rampaging the streets

Searching for meats

Flesh from their bones she would pull

And so she ran wild

This half beast, half child

All through the deep dark night

And all those she saw

Would slam close their door

Trembling with fear and fright

Then the sun would rise

And to Emmeline’s surprise

She would wake up in bed

‘What does it mean.

To have a strange dream

Surely its all in my head?’

Then she would see the mud

Her bed stained with blood

And remember it was all real

She remembered hearing moans

She remembered chewing bones

She remembered how the skin would peel

And with a shrug and a smile

She would giggle a while

Before she started her day

Then off to school

This queen of cool

With her friends she would play

And no one would guess

They couldn’t see the mess

Bubbling below her skin

They couldnt see the beast

That in daybreak had ceased

This monster she kept in

And no one could tell

They were under her spell

‘My secret’ she thought ‘Is mine’

‘I am a child of the moon

I dance to her tune

I Am Simply Divine’
